Leadership Tools by Dr. Don Meyer
|
Jennings, Jason. "Think Big, Act Small." Portfolio, 2005.
Leadership teams, regardless of the company, have the same goal: raise profits. But how does a company approach this daunting task? There is the typical way of trimming costs at the expense of downsizing or stirring up the employees with motivational ideas that end up nowhere. However, Jason Jennings offers wonderful examples, in his book "Think Big, Act Small," of companies that have successfully increased profits through unconventional means. The companies discussed in this book have grown into major competitors in today's market but have yet to lose their humble attitudes. For example, every leader and manager encourages each employee to think and act like an owner. Even though there is an established hierarchy within each organization, everyone is an equal partner. The lessons and experiences described in Jennings' book are all resourceful and applicable to any organization looking to build a positive work environment.
