VFCC Sponsors Video & Media Production at Creation
A team of Valley Forge Christian College (VFCC) digital media students, alumni, faculty and staff had an opportunity many dream of but only a few experience. The team provided the entire media and live video production for the 2014 Creation Festival Northeast in Mt. Union, Pa. The music event, held from June 25-28, provided current and former students with hands-on experience in a venue of 80,000 people. It also provided prospective students a firsthand look at VFCC's digital media major by providing tours of the state-of-the-art production truck, the mobile Media Command Center (mMCC).

There is a summer staple here at VFCC of which most of us are aware: the black and tan, 42-foot motor home that occupies a large parking space behind Mason Chapel and Solomon's Porch. But what most people don't realize is that a VFCC board member and his wife reside within, and they aren't here for a board meeting or a family vacation.

Before addressing her class during the 75th Baccalaureate service, Vanessa Duncan '14 ended a successful student career at VFCC with an impressive senior recital and the release of her first album. On May 1, 2014, Duncan released "Here is Where" under the stage name, Jane, and it can be found on major music vendor websites. As a result, lessons she learned in the Department of Music are extending past graduation - and making a profound impact on the early years of her career.

Pennypacker, Samuel. "Annals of Phoenixville and Its Vicinity." Philadelphia: Bavis and Pennypacker, 1872.
There is no better way to face our future than by looking at the past. For those living in Phoenixville we have an opportunity to look back and reflect on our past as a community. In 1872, "Annals of Phoenixville and Its Vicinity" was written and privately published by Phoenixville native, Samuel Whitaker Pennypacker. Much of the information was historically researched while other stories and details were gathered from Pennypacker's father, a medical practitioner who heard information straight from his patients who, in some cases, had firsthand accounts. Stories include those of the Native Americans who once inhabited the land to the town's notorious "Greasy Bob" to the home of Emmor Kimberton which was a part of the "Underground Railway." The heartbeat of Phoenixville pulses through this book as story after story unfolds. Without these many people who sacrificed to establish a life here in the Phoenixville area, this community would never be the wonderful place it is today.
