Leadership Tools by Dr. Don Meyer

Acuff, Jonathan M. "Start: Punch Fear in the Face, Escape Average, Do Work That Matters." Brentwood, Tenn.: Lampo Press, 2013. Print.
We all have great dreams and aspirations that we hope will someday come to pass. Some are attainable while others seem so far out of reach that it would be foolish to even attempt to make them happen. Often our greatest enemy to success is our own fear. Fear of failure. It is an intimidating obstacle that can seem too great to conquer. Jon Acuff is a compelling speaker and author who shows in his book "Start" that it is your decision to take your success to a whole new level. He says that there are various steps to success that are the stereotypical norm depending on a person's age. In their 20s, a person learns about what they do, whereas in their 40s, a person is mastering what they do. He argues that this does not need to be the case. It is in your hands. You make the choice and all it takes is that first step in deciding that you want to escape average and do work that matters. Through motivational stories and compelling ideas, Acuff encourages his readers to start their journey to a better and more meaningful work experience.
So what's stopping you from stepping out of the average routine and reaching the next level of success in your life? As Acuff wrote, "Waiting to find your purpose tomorrow is a great way to ensure you don't live with purpose today."
