Patriot Classic

VFCC is pleased to celebrate the 12th Anniversary of the Patriot Classic Golf Tournament on Friday, June 6, 2014, at the Kimberton Golf Club. For the past 12 years, golfers, churches, organizations and businesses have come together to raise over $80,000 in scholarships for deserving VFCC students. Because of such generous support, these students were able to successfully complete their degrees and are now serving as leaders all over the world. Each registration and sponsorship does not just pay for a round of golf or an awards dinner; it is a significant investment into the lives of students who will, in a few short years, make a lasting difference in our communities. Thank you for choosing to be part of this memorable event as you join with us in preparing individuals for a life of service and leadership in the church and in the world.

Leadership Tools by Dr. Don Meyer

Aughtmon, Susanna Foth. "I Blame Eve." Revell: Grand Rapids, 2012.

In a life of imperfection often comes the question, "Why did Eve have to eat it?" That apple ... it ruined the perfect life. No sin, no worries, no imperfections, no regrets, no problems. If only Eve has stopped and considered all she had. We are so quick to blame Eve but would we have done any differently? Even Susanna Aughtmon's 9-year-old son recognizes Eve as the foundational start to his sin. "Man, Mom! If only God hadn't taken out Adam's rib, everything would be perfect!"

Aughtmon, author of "I Blame Eve," discusses the various ways that we as humans continue to strive after perfectionism and control when it lays so far out of our reach from almost the beginning of time. In a lighthearted and real way, she jokes about the problems of life that Eve never knew she was getting herself (and the rest of the human race) into but she also points out that "the new perfect is realizing there is no perfect." Jesus is the only way out of this mess. In Him we can legitimately live life and give up control knowing that even with Eve's mistakes (and a few of our own) we can find grace and perfection.
