A Christmas Message

The true joy of Christmas is the love of Christ, shared with family and friends. May you find His peace, love and joy in the coming year.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

- Dr. Don Meyer, President

Christmas at Valley Forge

Valley Forge Christian College's music department produced their annual holiday concert, Christmas at Valley Forge, on Nov 30 and Dec. 1. After years of showcasing superb musical performances, Christmas at Valley Forge has come to be loved by those living on campus and in the surrounding community.

Guests were welcomed to the VFCC campus with trees covered in lights and luminaries lining the sidewalks. Christmas music was played from the bell tower - which could be heard across campus. Before entering the Flower Chapel, spectators were filled with the holiday joy and spirit.

Gobblefest

In November, Valley Forge Christian College hosted the annual Gobblefest Bible Quiz Tournament. During two days of quizzing, 300 players, coaches and parents participated in the competition on campus.

With 43 teams participating, the Gobblefest Bible Quiz Tournament has come to be one of the nations largest AG meets. Teams traveled from all over the East Coast to participate - from Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio, and even as far as South Bend, Indiana (a 10-hour drive!)

Professor Bilotta Helps Area Church

It's not a surprise that Professor Lee Bilotta would help a church develop their sound technology needs, but it was quite an honor for him to be featured in a recent edition of Church Production Magazine, a digital magazine distributed to Christian media professionals around the world.

Bilotta was asked to be a consultant at Grace United Methodist Church in Wilmington, Del., a prominent church in the community known for it's musical excellence. The audio system in the church desperately needed a professional upgrade, not only for aesthetic purposes, but also for clarity in preaching and worship. That's where Bilotta's expertise came in.

The Miracle Children

There are certain things in life that make us realize that God is more loving, good, and purposeful than we could ever have imagined.

Angelina and Caleb Hartman are two of those things.

Alumni Updates

Several PennDel District churches appointed new senior pastors this year, but two of those churches received some very special couples: Valley Forge Christian College alumni. Pastor Gregory ('85) and Teresa Sinclair accepted the pastorate of First Assembly of God in Greencastle, Pa., and Glen ('03) and Angela ('02) Burridge are now serving at First Assembly of God in Brookville, Pa. We are so grateful for our alumni who are making a difference in their churches and communities.

The following alumni were congratulated by the General Council of the Assemblies of God this fall for 50 years of faithful service:

Vincent E. Beemer ('69)
John M. Bunney ('59)
John D. Castellani ('59)
William K. Ferguson ('60)
Stefan Gulyas ('55)
Andrew K. Larrimore ('49)
Gerald L. Olshevski ('59)
John S. Penney, Jr. ('57)
Ralph R. Volpe ('57)
Belvy C. White ('49)

VFCC is proud of the heritage that is still continuing to touch lives today.

Hersha Hospitality Tip-Off Classic

Varsity Basketball has started at Valley Forge Christian College! What is perhaps the most anticipated sport season here on campus was ushered in with the Hersha Hospitality Tip-Off Classic. From November 15th to 17th, four men's teams and four women's teams participated in this exciting basketball tournament.

Reich is All-Time Leading Scorer!

Three  years ago, the Patriots welcomed Amanda Reich to the women's basketball program. The coaching staff knew she was an important addition, but they had no idea how far she would actually go. On November 16, 2012, Reich broke a new record, surpassing the all-time scoring record that had been held for 28 years!
Women's Basketball Tournament Champions

In late November, the VFCC women's basketball team made their second appearance in the Gallaudet Holiday Tournament. Two difficult matches stood between VFCC and the championship title, but the women fought hard for a well-deserved victory. In an exciting game against the host university, our Patriots earned the title of tournament champions!

Leadership Tools by Dr. Don Meyer

Dr. Don Meyer Wilson, Scott. Steering Through Chaos. Zondervan: Grand Rapids, 2010.

Pastors have a special job of leading, caring for, nurturing, and uplifting their congregation before the Lord. This is not an easy task especially when everything around you has a tendency to change. Whether it be the economy, technology or other cultural shifts, our society is fast moving and always advancing. Steering Through Chaos is a resource that is invaluable to any pastor who is in the midst of transition or change. The last thing you want to do is lead your congregation in a direction that is not endorsed by God. Rather than you leading the tasks at hand down the most beneficial path, they sometimes seem to be forcefully pushing you along unintended paths through the chaos. Scott Wilson gives ten ways to help you lead the flock most effectively while still dealing with the constant change in this world. By implementing these few tips as a pastor you can direct yourself and your congregation through the chaos without ever taking your eyes off the ultimate leader.
