2014 Year in Review There was a lot of variety in the projects we worked on in 2014. The most memorable was a mash-up of two hit songs recorded for NBC's TODAY Show's "Shine A Light" fundraising campaign for kids battling cancer. Led by TODAY Show host Hoda Kotb, Project Truly Brave brought together Cyndi Lauper and Sara Bareilles to mash-up their respective hits "True Colors" and "Brave". Recorded in Studio C, the resulting music video was heartfelt and moving.
Thanks to the New York State Film Tax Credit Program, Avatar has been hosting a lot of sessions for film and television. We've worked on several film scores for movies that will be released later this year. One of them, Mortdecai starring Johnny Depp, will be released this week. Produced by the innovative Mark Ronson, it should prove to be a unique and interesting soundtrack. For those of you who have kids, keep a look out for Walt Disney's short Frozen Forever! The music for the short was recorded in Studios A and C.
In television, Avatar continued work for HBO's Boardwalk Empire for the fourth and final season and hosted the recording of instrumental music for NBC's Peter Pan Live!
We are very grateful for the opportunity to host these and many other sessions too numerous to mention here.

 Two-Room Tracking
Space is at a premium in New York City and large rooms to record in are hard to come by. Avatar specializes in large tracking session for string dates, film scores, big bands and Broadway cast albums.
In the past, we were able to accommodate most cast recordings in Studio A. However, there are productions that involve a large orchestra and a large featured cast that require more isolation. In these instances, Avatar can provide a two-room tracking solution.
In 2014, Avatar recorded cast albums for Rocky On Broadway and Side Show utilizing both Studios A and B, which are adjacent rooms. For Side Show, Studio B, was used as additional iso-booths for featured singers and the chorus.
