ANNOUNCEMENT
Rogers City Council To Consider New Tax on Businesses
The City of Rogers has recently released its Pavement Management Plan which is intended to identify a new tax to fund the upkeep and maintenance of city streets. One such option, a so-called Franchise Fee, could result in area businesses being taxed as much as $3,000 or more per year. The tax would likely have no sunset date.
There are many questions surrounding the Pavement Management Plan, including:
- Should the city raise taxes to manage the upkeep of city streets, or use existing dollars (the so-called "sinking fund") that have been set aside for contingencies such as this?
- What is the true need and why has the city not funded street maintenance in the past?
- Why can't the city bond for street improvements?
- What will the impact be on your business?
Attend the public hearing and learn more! The Pavement Management Plan and funding options will be discussed at the June 23 city council meeting. The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. and will be held in the Rogers Community Room at 21201 Memorial Drive. For more information, contact fellow chamber member Gregg Peppin at 612.209.9351 or gregg@p2bstrategies.com
