Bills Introduced in House & Senate to Continue

I-94 Capacity Expansion

I-94 Coalition Applauds Transportation Bills Addressing

Interstate 94's Expansion Needs

St. Paul MN - On January 16th Senator Mary Kiffmeyer and Representative Eric Lucero introduced bills to expand Interstate 94 from St. Michael to Albertville. I-94 is currently undergoing Phase I lane expansion from Rogers to St. Michael and the I-94 Coalition is hopeful that this next phase will be a success as well.

"We applaud Senator Kiffmeyer and Representative Lucero for introducing these bills. Their leadership recognizes the critical nature of the I-94 expansion project and continues the great collaboration between central Minnesota's business community, and state and local leaders have demonstrated throughout this project. The I-94 Coalition is excited to work with these great leaders and about the progression of Phase II," said Steve Bot, Chairman, I-94 West Corridor Coalition.

The bill appropriates funding for lane expansion of I-94 to six lanes from Trunk Highway 241 in St. Michael to Wright County Road 19 in Albertville, and the replacement of the deficient overpasses in Wright County.   The project was awarded  $1.4 million in late 2014 to complete deign phase for design options for mobility.  A critical next step to prepare the project for construction.

The Minnesota I-94 West Corridor Coalition is a coalition of dedicated local governments, private businesses, the I-94 West Chamber of Commerce, and other stakeholders affected by the transportation challenges facing Minnesota. The Coalition has created a campaign, "Green Light 94" to support a concentrated effort raising public awareness about this essential transportation corridor. The Coalition is committed to advocating for transportation improvements, which seek to increase safety, decrease congestion, and encourage economic development throughout the corridor.
