I hope to see many of you tonight at our annual Christmas program. We're blessed to have a team of phenomenal music teachers here-all of whom help make tonight's program a success. Hopefully you'll be able to make the show.

You'll each be in my prayers as we finish out the season of Advent and celebrate Christmas. Have a wonderful break, and I look forward to seeing you in 2014.

Christmas Outreach

This year many classrooms and office staff provided Christmas gifts for 14 families from local Catholic schools. Gifts included everything from bunk beds to Barbie dolls, with lots of gift cards thrown in. Families ranged in size from 2 people to families of 6; some are grandparents caring for grandchildren, and many are single parent families. Some classrooms chose to give to St. Joseph's Baby Corner or other local charities.

We will prepare a variety of music for a concert in March, and will sing at a St. Joseph Parish Mass in February. Please contact Betsy Baeskens Giri at bbaeskens@stjosephsea.org for details.

FINANCIAL AID FOR 2014-2015

St. Joseph School uses School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS), a service of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), to provide an objective, consistent methodology for calculating a family's ability to contribute to tuition. The school makes the final decision on each student's financial aid.

All financial aid applicants for the 2014-2015 academic year will need to complete and submit an online Parents' Financial Statement (PFS).  The PFS form for the 2014-2015 academic year is now available on the NAIS website.

The St. Joseph school code is 4137.  The fee is $41 for online application, payable by credit or debit card or PayPal. The deadline for financial aid applications and 2012 supporting documentation is February 12, 2014. Complete information is posted on the school website.

Grades 5-8 Parents:

Teens and Social Networking January 13

On January 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the school auditorium, Stefanie Thomas from the Seattle Police Department will be at St. Joseph School to talk with the parents about "Teens and Social Networking". She will be covering cyberbullying, online posting, the reality of teens as targets, and safety tips for social networking. Stefanie will be talking with the 7th and 8th grade students at 10:15 a.m. and the 5th and 6th grade students at 11:15 a.m. If you are unable to attend the evening presentation, you may attend one of the student sessions. Thank you to the PAB for providing hospitality at the evening meeting. We hope that every 5th-8th grade student will have at least one parent able to attend one of these important presentations.

2013-2014 School Pledge Drive

The annual School Pledge Drive has made amazing progress in our last week, and we are SOOO close to our goal of 100% participation and our goal of reaching $515,000. Please, please take a quick moment out of your day today to make your pledge ... remember, all we need is your pledge and remember, you have until June to actually complete your payment(s). We have an easy online option to help you complete this task. If you need any assistance, Debra Hofbauer would be more than happy to help you.

Thank you to all who have supported up to this point --- As of

3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, we have $466,000 pledged and $237,000 paid.

We still have 120 families left to pledge. Please go online today, so that we can finish this drive before the New Year. Mr. Fennessy will be personally contacting those folks left to pledge over the holiday break!

Thank you all for your amazing support. We want to extend a very sincere thank-you for all your contributions to this drive. We also want to thank Alida and Doug Oles for their incredible leadership role as chairs this year. We wish everyone a wonderful holiday season and look forward to seeing everyone at the Christmas program this evening!

Calling all Volunteers!

Now (at the end of this calendar year) might be a great time to tabulate all of those hours your family has donated to the school and not yet recorded so far.

Remember to include any volunteer work done for both the parish and school community. Thanks much, and Happy Holidays!

Enchanted Forest

Thank you again to everyone for another successful auction. Our numbers so far show a gross of over $530,000. A very successful and well-attended event! We still have $39,308 in outstanding balances; you may continue to make payments with your Visa or Mastercard.

The 8th Grade Christmas Movie Party

is tomorrow, December 20. If you missed buying tickets at the auction, there is still time! We want the whole class to attend, and it is easy to buy the tickets, plus we have a pool of donated tickets if purchasing a ticket doesn't work for you at this time.

To get a ticket please send an email to Lisa Visintainer at the link below or stop by the Special Events Office and Colleen or Laura can help you. Please let me know how many tickets, and we will charge your auction account $25/ticket. Many of you were so generous and purchased extra tickets, and we thank you for that!

We look forward to helping these kids make great memories in their final year together. We could use a few more parent volunteers for the party from 12-3:30 on the day of the event. Please let us know if you would like to help.

Thanks so much, Gretchen, Darcy and Lisa
