Virtue of the Week

           EMPATHY

Empathy means that we can sense, identify with, and understand how another person is feeling. We connect and relate to what the person needs.

I was walking down the hallway the other day and noticed a group of about five parents decorating a bulletin board. Then, a bit further down the hall, more parents were staffing the SCRIP table. Every day, many of you spend your free time helping us in many ways. From making copies to advising us on financial matters, parents are integral parts of our infrastructure. You help the school run.

As you'll see as you read through this edition of the FLASH!, we are in the heat of the auction season. This event calls on all of us to pitch in a bit more. I know we are still in need of volunteers at both the Friday and Saturday night auctions, so please consider volunteering. Please check in with the Special Events Office if you're able to help us with this.

We had a very successful Jog-a-thon this year, raising just over $82,000 to date for the school. This is incredible and a perfect example of how each of us doing a little can amount to a huge success. We expect every child to participate, so please make sure to turn in your donations if that hasn't happened yet. Students who bring in over $50 will receive a free dress pass.

Have a great weekend.

The auction is getting closer,
which means more hot items coming your way!

First up, the ever popular, Bedtime Stories with the Kindergarten Team, Mrs. Carson, Mrs. Cedergreen, Ms. Johnson and Mrs. Yousoofian will wear their pajamas to your house, read your child a bedtime story, sip hot chocolate and tuck them in for the night! The book and memories are yours to keep.

Next, Four Exceptional Apple Cup Seats
and the Best Tailgate Party in Husky Stadium!

The first Apple Cup between fierce rivals University of Washington and Washington State was played in 1900, and resulted in a tie between UW and WSU. From 1900 to 2012, there have been 105 games between the schools. This is a long-standing and beloved tradition. This year's Apple Cup will be held in the breathtaking newly remodeled Husky Stadium, being billed as the most beautiful place in the nation to watch football.  This year's game will be held Friday, November 29, at 12:30pm, over the Thanksgiving holiday.  Enjoy the game close to all the action, row 23 at the 25 yard line. The four seats are conveniently located on the aisle and are all next to one another.  As an added bonus, drop by Mischelle and Chris Davis' Tailgater at "The Husky Trailer". Beer and snacks will be served up before and after the game, along with plenty of fun!

Thank you, Celeste and Sterling Ramberg and Mischelle and Chris Davis
