Attorneys for Activist Investors

"Know a good lawyer?"

We hear this question with increasing frequency. Experienced activist investors know several. However, most other PMs, smart investors with an interest in activist investing, may not.

It's not even clear when to retain one. Too soon, and a PM spends a nice sum on legal fees when he or she can and should tackle some basic tasks, such as reading a portfolio company's bylaws. But, too late, and then... too late.

So, we put together a guide for PMs about working with attorneys in activist situations. Much like our guides to proxy solicitors and proxy advisors, we intend this as a resource for intelligent PMs that want to become more informed about activist investing. More experienced activist investors will probably find it a bit rudimentary, yet we hope even somewhat interesting and useful.

In a current blog post, we set forth some background on the guide.
