News from the Principal                                     Nov. 2, 2013

 

Dear CCPS Parents:  

 

Toys For Tots Congratulations to Mrs. Balas' 3rd grade and Mrs. Wiksell's 6th grade for winning the October Toys for Tots competition.  They received a Coastal Day last Wednesday.  On Monday, November 4th, we will begin our Toys for Tots: Clemson vs. Carolina competition.  We will have jars for coins/bills in the front office area representing each school.   On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, the winners will get to dress up in Clemson or Carolina colors.  Also, when we raise $3000, everyone will receive 3 Coastal Days.  Please remember to send in your change for this great cause! 

 

Book Fair  Our Annual Book Fair begins this week.  Stop by the library and check out all the wonderful books that we have available!  The book fair will run from Monday, November 4th-Tuesday, November 12th.
  
Box Tops  Don't forget to send in your Box Tops for Education. We have already raised over $800 with this program!
  
Basketball  Our Basketball season is kicking off on Monday, November 4th.  All 5th-10th grade girls and 6th-12th grade boys are invited to participate.  Please have your student see Mrs. Hollingsworth if interested in playing Cougar Basketball.
 
Field Trips  Last week, Mrs. Axson's 8th grade SC History class went on a horse drawn carriage ride in downtown Charleston and Mrs. Balas' 3rd grade class visited Charles Towne Landing.    This is a great way for our students to learn more about our state and our city.  It's so awesome that our students are able to experience history right here in our home town!
 
Theatre  Mrs. Ballard's Musical Theatre class participated in the SCISA Drama Festival last Tuesday.  The students did a wonderful job representing our school and we are so proud of their hard work.

 

Darkness to Light  Please mark your calendar for the Darkness to Light Seminar on Tuesday, November 12th from 6-8pm.  This informative session is designed to help us protect your children from child sexual abuse.  Childcare will be provided for K3-5th grade children. Please email beckyking@coastalchristian.org by Friday, November 8th if you will need childcare so that we can plan accordingly.
