Sanitation News for January 2014
Happy New Year!

THIS WEEK ONLY:  Routes Delayed by a Day

On Monday, due to the severe weather conditions, City Hall and all City offices were closed.  No sanitation was collected, which means all routes are delayed by a day all week (just as on holiday weeks).

Speaking of Holidays:  There will be no sanitation collection on Martin Luther King's Birthday either:  January 20.  All routes will be delayed by a day all week.  The new sanitation holiday schedule for 2014 has been posted here:  http://www.kirkwoodmo.org/content/City-Departments/1914/sanitation.aspx#Holidays    PLEASE NOTE:  Sanitation is always collected normally on Presidents' Day, which is NOT a sanitation holiday.  Also:  This year, Independence Day is on a Friday, so sanitation will not be affected that week.

Other Changes:  Effective immediately, all bulky pick-ups will be done on FRIDAYS.  This means that if you have a major appliance, piece of furniture, or other bulky or large item that you need picked up, you will need to call by Thursday at noon, for collection on the following day.  Call 822-5828 to arrange bulky pick-ups.

Christmas Trees:  Kirkwood Sanitation will collect Christmas trees throughout the month of January at no cost to you.  Just place the tree near your regular trash and recycling (leave about three feet of space in between).  Beginning February 1, a yard waste sticker will need to be attached.

Christmas Lights:  You can drop off your old lights at the Scheidegger Recycling Depository through January 12.

In Bad Weather:  We WILL get your trash and recycling picked up.  It may be late in the day, but we will get it.  Please don't move it off the street.  However, we may not collect yard waste or Christmas trees until the weather is better and the roads are clearer.  The forecast is for warmer weather next week, so if we don't get your yard waste or Christmas tree this week, we will pick it up next week.  Thank you for your patience.
