WEEKLY GARDENING TIP
WEEKLY GARDENING TIP FROM KIRKWOOD GARDEN CLUB

Spring blooming bulbs such as tulips and daffodils can be forced to grow indoors.  Place a pot of soil with the planted bulbs in a fridge (I'd recommend a spare fridge, not the one used for your food) for 6-8 weeks.  No watering is required.  Remove the pot and place in a sunny window.  Water once every 10-14 days.  Flowers should start appearing within a 2-3 week timeframe.

FROM THE EDITOR: The Mini Blog
My T.I.L.T. (Things I Love on Thursday) for today:  Getting ready for Thanksgiving, pulling together this year's "Kirkwood Year In Review" photo essay (check your utility bills in December!), decongestants (allergies...ugh), sweaters and boots, updating the information on the historic preservation page of the City Website (link here), updating the "Residential Occupancy Inspections" brochure to make it more user friendly for new residents, and getting ready for a weekend at the lake with some good friends. It's a BUSY time of year, but a fun one too. I hope your holiday plans are progressing smoothly.

If you are looking for a way to donate to help the people of the Philippines in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan, here's a link to the AARP Website, where donations are being accepted.  AARP will match your donation, dollar-for-dollar up to $500,000.

Have a great weekend - and see you next Thursday!
