GARDENING TIP OF THE WEEK
| |
A "TREE" TIP FOR GREENTREE WEEK!!
Now through November is a great time to plant trees and shrubs. Dig the hole three times the diameter of the root ball and to a depth of 80 percent of the root ball. Water well; then mulch about three to four inches. Take care to keep the mulch away from the trunk of the tree or shrub. Continue to keep well watered until the temperatures reach 32 degrees.
The Kirkwood Garden Club will periodically share a Gardening Tip of the Week with Weekly Happenings readers. For more information about the club, visit their Website at: kirkwoodgardenclub.org. New members and guests, both men and women, are always welcome to attend their meetings and events. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month, at 7:00 p.m., at the Kirkwood Community Center.

My T.I.L.T. (Things I Love On Thursday) for Today: The GREAT WEATHER being predicted for this weekend's 53rd annual Greentree Festival (in the 70s and 80s - yay!!!), this great organ I found at Goodwill this week for $25 (photo), getting back to running after a few weeks off, eating chicken & dumplings this weekend at the Greentree Folklife Festival (which is why the running is important), getting ready for my college reunion at Webster University later this month, dressing up in western garb tomorrow in support of the Greentree Festival (and getting to wear my new red cowboy boots, I mean, buffalo girl boots!), signing up for the Kirkwood-DesPeres Chamber of Commerce's first-ever Mini Golf Open (in October - you can sign up on their Website here), and the start of fall television (I can't help it - I'm a junkie for NCIS). What's on YOUR T.I.L.T. today?
I don't have a cowboy hat, but I will have on my dancin' cowboy boots for this Friday night's opening concert. Will I see you there?? On Saturday, I'll be the one walking around taking photos and chugging kettle corn, gyros, and ribs (click here to see the lists of all vendors).
Have a great weekend, and see you next Thursday!!
