Sanitation News for June and July:

Summer Sanitation Collection

Due to summer heat and other issues, our sanitation workers started their routes earlier, effective June 1.  This means you should have all items to be collected at the curb by 6:00 on the morning of your regular collection day.

ALSO:  During the summer months, yard waste tends to be much lighter, meaning there are fewer bags and fewer bundles of limbs.  Therefore, yard waste service moves along more quickly.  This means that the process of collecting yard waste, which during the fall and spring can take all day, typically only takes a half day.  Therefore, if you place your yard waste at the curb after lunch, it may be missed.

Independence Day is a Sanitation Holiday!

City Hall and most City offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4, for Independence Day. There will be no sanitation collection on the Fourth of July. Only Thursday and Friday routes are affected, however:  Thursday routes will be collected on Friday, and Friday routes will be collected on Saturday.

Recycling Tip of the Month

IT'S GARDENING TIME!

Don't forget that the City takes plastic flower pots for recycling all year long, as long as they have a number on the bottom.  We take all numbers except for number 6.  We also don't take the "tray" type pots, but those can be recycled at several local nurseries, including Rolling Ridge in Webster Groves, and at the Missouri Botanical Garden during their yearly recycling program.
