Whether you're looking for a date night dinner or an early bird special, there's one local restaurant that won't disappoint. The open deck patio protects diners from harsh weather conditions while still being able to enjoy the fresh air breeze and the sound of the Holston River flowing. Riverfront Seafood Company is located on Netherland Inn right along the Greenbelt. Patrons can walk off the fresh seafood and delicious desserts with a romantic stroll.

Looking for a unique experience? Try soul food, like fried chicken and fried green tomatoes, at a quaint little restaurant called Salt N' Pepper on Oakland Avenue in Johnson City. Food is made from scratch and cooked to order, so get a seat outside on their patio and enjoy the authentic atmosphere.

If late night dinners are your thing, check out Machiavelli's for Italian food, live bands, and outdoor seating. You have to try their New York style pizza with delicious fresh toppings customized to your liking. Enjoy this perfectly cozy spot in downtown Bristol with a relaxed atmosphere.

Father's Day Facts

On July 19, 1910, the governor of the U.S. state of Washington proclaimed the nation's first "Father's Day." However, it was not until 1972, 58 years after President Woodrow Wilson made Mother's Day official, that the day became a nationwide holiday in the United States.

Bag Lady Collects Items for Foster Children

When Child Protective Services and the police show up at a home to remove children from an unloving environment, they try to grab items that the children might want/need when they go to a foster home. Often times, those items are simply thrown into a trash bag because there's nothing else to use. Once the children are taken away from the home and placed elsewhere, they're left with their trash bag full of items pulled from the house that often times are dirty and damaged.
Leinbach Services is partnering with Susan Bishop and DCS to provide backpacks and toiletries for the children facing these horrible circumstances in order to give them something nice, something they can keep that will hold what's left of their belongings. Bishop's goal is to raise 740 bags because that's the number that was estimated how many children are taken out of their homes a year in our area.

How to Check for a Water Leak
Keeping track of your water bill can save you money. Knowing how much water you use on average will help you detect if you have a water leak. If your bill is higher than usual and you haven't used extra water to wash your car, fill a child's pool or wash the dog, then you might have a leak. There are steps you can take to determine if you have a leak and if it's in the house or outdoors.
  1. Shut off all water-connected appliances. This includes any sprinkler systems outside, washing machines, ice makers, etc.
  2. Go to your outside meter and lift the protective lid.  Watch the meter and see if it is moving.  If you are sure the water is turned off, and the meter is turning, you have a leak.  If it is not moving, look at where your arrow is on the meter.  Check back in 10 minutes to see if it has moved, you might have a slow leak.
