Legalistic
When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, "Do you want to be healed?"
John 5:6
Jesus healed a man on the Sabbath. The legalistic rule followers were concerned about the rule and the rule-breaker. Jesus cared about the man. Later, after the healed man was on his way, he saw Jesus again...then Jesus encouraged him to sin no more. Celebrate the spiritual healing won for you by Christ on the cross. Show that same mercy to those in need.
Dear Jesus,
Every day I see people who need your healing, but instead of showing mercy, I judge them with a legalistic heart. Forgive my sin of legalism and move me to be your hands and feet of mercy to others.
