Repent
But unless you repent, you too will all perish! ~ Luke 13:5
Jesus pulls no punches.Yet, repentance is not an innate ability. Repentance, that is both to confess our sins and change our minds/attitudes, occurs only by the power of the Holy Spirit working in us and on us. At Baptism we were given the Holy Spirit who now enables us to repent. It is good and right for us to repent. Thank God we have that ability and thus no fear of perishing. Still the command remains, even to the believer. Repent, lest we test God.O Holy Spirit, give us the desire and confidence, as the people of God, to admit our sin and trust in Jesus' cross-established forgiveness. In Jesus' name, Amen.
