Watch
Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.
Today we are constantly encouraged to be observant. The threats to society and people are everywhere. The coming of the Last Day is closer than yesterday. Jesus tells us to be prepared to stand before Him via prayer. Not just the proclamation of words but prayer in the sense of worship which includes using faith-building Word and Sacrament. Using His Means of Grace, the Spirit will ensure we are prepared to stand before Jesus without fear, knowing He will invite us to stand with Him in the Judgment.
Dearest Lord and Saviour: Grant that all who believe will use Word and Sacrament to prepare us to stand in that Last Great Day. With faith strengthened we look forward to Your return and the display of Your glory before all mankind. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, make our trust in Your salvation ever stronger. Hear us, dearest Jesus! Amen.
