October 31 our culture celebrates Halloween. October 31 for Lutherans is a big deal- it's Reformation Day- the day when Martin Luther nailed some statements on a church door in Wittenberg, Germany. It was an act that began the Reformation and changed the world.
What was his greatest contribution? It was finding the answer in God's Word, the answer to the question that tormented him: "What must I do to win God's forgiveness?" Nothing. He learned through God's Word that God had already done it all for him by sending Jesus who paid the penalty for his sin and whose resurrection would be shared by all who had faith in Jesus.
