| | | |  | | Manure Spreader Comes in Handy in Wisconsin
Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Milan, Wisconsin hopes to schedule the dedication of its new building this October. The congregation and a LCEF Laborers For Christ team is in the process of finishing the drywall, siding and finishing touches this month. The congregation discovered a way to "recycle" the scrap pieces of drywall. They used an old manure spreader as a dumpster, the spreader broke down the drywall scraps while it scattered the gypsum plaster over a farm field. Ingenious! Gypsum is a soft sulfate material composed of calcium sulfate dihydrate and can be used as a fertlizer. To read more about this new church construction visit: www.lcefuppermidwest.org.
| | | |  | | Mission Mini Grants Make a Difference
$20,000 was distributed to 15 churches wanting to reach out to their community. A variety of efforts were funded. St. Paul Church and Preschool in Cumberland wanted to reach the community through their presence at a festival. Trinity in Merrill is training members to be a missional community. Immanuel Church and School in WI Rapids hosted an outdoor movie for the neighborhood. St. Matthew in Eau Claire is stepping into campus ministry. Bethlehem in Altoona is working with their community to assist with a food bank. Many, many more ideas were presented and funded. Watch for a new funding model, still focused on outreach, for the 2016 calendar year.

Our NWD schools and churches have been receiving links to resources regarding religious liberty protections. Pastors, principals, and early childhood directors have been given sample policies regarding weddings, facility usage, hiring and others. These sample documents can be located on the NWD website at www.nwdlcms.org under the Congregations/Church Resources tab. Before adopting these samples, it is wise to consider their impact for your minstry, and wise to consult with an attorney. |
