 A Note From DJ

Wow DJ, haven't seen a newsletter for awhile. I know. April and May were wild months, leading AdvancED-NLSA high school teams, presenting board trainings and strategic planning events, creating important details for the Trego and EC conferences, and preparing for the 51st NWD convention. My concern and prayers for you continue, as the busy times now transition to summertime. You are loved.

 Chapel Talks
The 2015-16 Chapel Talks are again written by former teacher, principal, pastor, and ed. exec. Bob Riggert. They are organized under the theme Life Together and could EASILY be used as the theme for your school year. They even include a song that is the theme for NLSW 2016! If you want a sneak peek for themes, let me know.

 NWD Professional Development Partnership
CUW is experienced in providing school districts the support they need for meaningful professional development. They have spent time with me in helping to meet our needs as identified by those who responded to the survey in fall.

The vision is to have an ongoing schedule; late summer session with principals and lead teachers to educate and focus the program for the year, then school year programs across buildings with like grade and subject teachers. The topics of developing teachers (for principals) and data/literacy (for teachers) seem to be the best starting place based on surveys and school needs.

Implementing this with schedules and budgets will be a work in progress. But the value of instruction from university staff, done collaboratively with common grade level peers, organized across district for cost savings, is a model worthy of our planning.

Please pray for the planning, for fruit that impacts teachers and students, and the participation of our schools.
