A Lutheran kid from Sheboygan Lutheran named Sam Dekker delivered in the Wisconsin game versus Arizona on Saturday, March 28. In the second half, Dekker hit 5 of 5 three-pointers en route to 20 of his 27 points and helped lead the Badgers to victory. He was named the most outstanding player of the west region. Sam was a hero that day!
Jesus delivered when he had to on that first Holy Week about 2000 years ago. As St. Paul wrote to the Galatians: "(Jesus) who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father" (Gal 1:4 ESV). Jesus allowed it that He was stricken, smitten and afflicted to die on the cross. Think of what that means that Jesus "gave Himself"! He allowed it to happen for you and me.
