I feel confident that this is breaking news to most of you reading this and yes, I understand, not the most exciting of news either. Having said this, it does make for a good reminder to review your personal and business disability policies annually.

It is very common to purchase a policy during the first year of your practice and then to simply forget about it, but give this some thought; how much has changed in your life since that policy was originally written? Have you experienced a change in income, expanded your practice, new additions to the family, etc.?  

It is always a good idea to keep your insurance plans up to date on an annual basis, so that they correspond to the life changes that happen throughout your carrier. It would be wise to adjust your personal policy to reflect your current income and when needing additional coverage to look into Key Person Disability, Business Overhead Disability or Loan Indemnification Disability.
