Some times are both optimal and irreplaceable for focusing attention and investing in urgent and important community issues. This is one of those times. The issue is the future of our littlest kids.
Please join friends and neighbors for dinner and a timely and critical community conversation with a panel of early childhood educators and advocates to discover ways to become engaged and invested.
Monday, Feb. 25, 6--8:30 p.m.
IOCP, Shannon Hall
1605 County Road 101 N., Plymouth
RSVP - Brenda Heim (763) 489-7514
Local and state leaders in early childhood care and education will describe the challenge and highlight the timely public, private and local opportunities we have to set our littlest kids on the path to success in school and in life. They include:
- Dr. Chace Anderson, Superintendent, Wayzata Public Schools
- Denise Mayotte, Co-chair, Start Early Funders Network, Executive Director, Sheltering Arms Foundation
- Frank Forsberg, Senior Vice President for System Change, Greater Twin Cities United Way, and Chair, Executive Committee, MinneMinds
- Katie Williams, Kids' Care Connection Board Member; former Director, Wayzata Community Church Nursery School and YWCA Early Childhood Programs
- Cisa Keller and Kat Kempe, Early Childhood Legislative Advocates
- Todd Otis, Think Small, Director of Community Partnerships
- Brenda Heim, Director of the Caring for Kids Initiative
The time is now. The only childhood our kids will have is this one. The opportunity to make it great is ours.

Food Sculptures for a Cause
MN FoodShare's March Campaign is the largest annual food and fund drive in the state and runs from March 1 to 31. It is the only time of the year contributions to food shelves leverage additional dollars. This year, the campaign goal of the IOCP Food Shelf is to collect 90,000 lbs. of food and $90,000 to address the growing need in our community.
In partnership with The Mosaic Company Foundation, IOCP invites businesses, schools, churches, families and other groups to organize a food drive and create a food sculpture out of the donated items. We will post the photos at www.iocp.org, and invite all to vote on their favorite.

Fresh Paint, New Homes
 | | Jim Fox, part of a volunteer group from Wells Fargo. |
We called for painters and you responded! We had 67 volunteers participate in painting at Maggie Manor during 7 different half-day sessions, logging more than 300 volunteer hours. Their efforts saved more than $6,500!
Thanks to all who helped prepare the units for the new families who will move in in April/May.
