Ohio Athletes Needed to Represent Ohio
NOTE: The date for the Celebration of Athletes was incorrect in the earlier version of this newsletter. It is Friday, July 26th.

During the Celebration of Athletes at each National Senior Games competition, two Ohio athletes, one male and one female, are selected to represent Ohio and accompany the Ohio flag into the celebration site during the parade of states.
It's time to select our two athletes for the 2013 National Games Celebration of Athletes.

The 2013 Celebration is scheduled for Friday, July 26th at 7 p.m. at Quicken Loans Arena in downtown Cleveland. The flag bearers are expected to be at the arena for instruction at least an hour before the start of the event.

So, if you're interested in representing Ohio in Cleveland at the 2013 National Games, here are the basic criteria:
1) You MUST be registered for the 2013 National Games;
2) You MUST be available on Friday July 26th for the Celebration of Athletes;
3) You MUST have participated in the 2012 Ohio Senior Olympics State Games; AND
4) You MUST be an Ohio resident.

If you meet these three criteria, here's how you apply to be selected. Send an e-mail to info@ohioseniorolympics.org by April 2, 2013 with the following information:
1) Your name;
2) Your age;
3) Your city of residence;
4) E-mail address;
5) Your event(s) at the National Competition;
6) How long you've been competing and in what competitions you've competed (local games, state games, national games)- please feel free to note any medals or awards you've won related to your Senior Olympics participation;
7) A BRIEF statement about how you got started in Senior Olympics, why you compete and what competing has meant to you; AND
8) Why you think you should be selected to represent Ohio on this occasion (what makes you special, obstacles you've overcome, etc.).
Preference will be given to individuals who have NOT represented Ohio for this event in the 2007, 2009 or 2011 National Games. However, anyone interested is welcome to submit an application e-mail.

Selections will be made by the Ohio Senior Olympics Board. Those selected to represent Ohio will be notified by the end of April.
Your deadline to get this information to Ohio Senior Olympics is April 2, 2013.
Good luck!!
