"The man who, as is often said, can get away with wearing a trench coat over his dinner jacket, or an old school tie for a belt, is the one who in fact understands best the rules of proper dress and can bend them to suit his own personality and requirements."

ALL ABOUT STRIPES

Stripes can be a great way to bring interest into an outfit-as long as the stripes are chosen with care. To create an ensemble that incorporates stripes that work for you, consider the following points:
  1. Vertical for business. Rugby and polo shirts often use horizontal stripes, but in business clothing, vertical stripes are more appropriate.
  2. Thin is in. While not all stripes need be pinstripe width, choosing thin stripes over thick, blocky stripes will generally look more refined.
  3. Variation works. Your stripes need not be uniform in either color or width. A shirt or tie with a variety of multi-width and multi-colored stripes can be quite pleasing to the eye.
  4. Combinations matter. If you're creating an attention-drawing outfit, colors that sit opposite each other on a color wheel are highly effective. If you're crafting an elegant business ensemble, your colors should be closer to each other on the wheel.
  5. Subtlety in a pin. Your pinstriped suit is an excellent way to incorporate the visual interest of stripes without overwhelming an outfit.
  6. The sock question. Use the same guidelines-vertical, thin, multi-width, multi-tone stripes-when choosing socks, and you'll be able to safely go beyond the standard solid black or brown socks.
We would love to chat with you about how to choose stripes that create the image you want. Call 502.417.0324 for a consultation.
CRAFTING YOUR INDIVIDUAL STYLE: A QUIET REBELLION

When you create a customized wardrobe that showcases your unique sense of style, you're stepping away from the crowd's choices, and charting your own course. There's a bit of rebellion in creating something truly unique-you're giving the subtle but unmistakable message to the world that you know your own mind, and you refuse to bend to the whims of others.

Your favorite style may be one of timeless elegance, or you may choose to set trends. Traditional or edgy, demure or bold: no matter your preferences, you're letting your
own voice be heard instead of merely being an echo of others.
