The mission of the Future Leaders of the World (FLOW) Mentoring Program is to foster positive mentoring relationships between students in St. Mary's County Public Schools and members of the community and to provide supported, safe, and inspiring environments in which these matches can cultivate the potential of each youth.
The FLOW Mentoring programs are in full swing now. Mentors are working to secure good, supportive, trusting relationships with their mentees, and site leaders are busily planning activities to keep sessions lively and meaningful.
Our thanks goes out to all our mentors, site leaders, and community supporters for your commitment to the program and to the FLOW students!
THANK YOU to OUR VETERANS
During the month of November, FLOW Mentoring has been remembering our veterans and offering thanks to all who have served our country.
At Greenview Knolls Elementary School, mentors and mentees created a beautiful collage of thank you cards for Veterans' Day.
At Leonardtown Middle School, students wrote cards for the IA Homecoming at PAX River.
FLOW STUDENTS IN SERVICE:
Spotlights on Dynard Elementary and
Green Holly Elementary
DYNARD: Food Drive
As in past years, the Dynard Elementary FLOW students energetically organized a food drive at their school. The food was given to a local food bank-look at how proud they are of their handiwork!
GREEN HOLLY ELEMENTARY: Penny Drive for Hurricane Sandy Victims
FLOW students at Green Holly decided they wanted to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy and voted to sponsor a penny drive at the school. They made posters and spread the word among friends. Then they challenged other FLOW groups to join them: Mechanicsville Elementary and Chespeake Public Charter School have joined them in holding their own penny drives.
It's not too late to join in! If you are interested in having your FLOW program contribute to the cause, please contact Site Leader Lynne Baker at GHES for more details.
