City Church
August 22nd, 2013 | volume 6 | issue 34
From the Full House dynamic duo of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, to NFL stars Ronde and Tiki Barber, we all know of a famous set of twins. In our new Fall series, Twinsies, Pastor Dean will look at several "twins" that appear in our own lives, whether we recognize them or not. We'll learn what The Gospel says about pairs like Religion & Performance, Pride & Judgment, and other duos in this four-week series.

We kick off our Fall Schedule with services at 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.! Join us on this very special Sunday at the Tallahassee Mall as we celebrate baptisms!

City Speak

by Dean Inserra
Lead Pastor

Tallahassee seems like a different place in the Fall, doesn't it? Our city seems to come alive when our local schools start back up, college students return, football season begins, and eventually, the weather gets cooler. I believe that the local church should be at the center of what a city gets excited about, and I am praying we can lead the charge in Tallahassee over these next few months.

Just last Sunday was City Church's 6th anniversary. Ever since the beginning, the vision has been the same: take the truth of the Gospel fully into Tallahassee life. We want to be a church that is just as much a part of this city as anything else that comes to your mind when you think about Tallahassee. This is not for the purpose of making our name known, but rather the loving message of how one can be reconciled to God by faith in Jesus Christ. If we truly believe this message, we must urgently ask the question, Why Not Tallahassee? Why can't we see a local Church movement here in our city that infiltrates every corner of influence and life in this great place we call home? Well, I think we can. I believe Tallahassee is ripe and ready, and it's time to go full speed ahead.

This Sunday we will be launching into the Fall by going back to two services. Our service times will be at 9:30 and 11:00, and I would love for you to choose the time that best allows you to bring a friend, or family member. I am fired up out of my mind about the unprecedented growth we experienced over the summer, and I eagerly anticipate what is to come. If the Lord allows, we are going to see some incredible things take place as we ask, "Why Not Tallahassee."

As we go full speed there are 4 things I'm asking of those of you who call City Church "home."

  • 1.    Be here on Sundays!

Please make every effort to be here with your family. We need you here! Come back early from the lake, or get up even though you're tired from the game the night before. Please prioritize your church.

  • 2. Invest, Invite, and Invest again!

Please keep building relationships with people, investing your life in others, inviting those friends to City Church gatherings, and continuing the investment after they come. Found people find people, and you don't have to look very far!

  • 3. Pray.

Please be praying for your church leaders and the mission God has laid out in Tallahassee for our entire City Church family. Satan hates it, and we must pray his candy rear-end away from our church.

  • 4. Be Generous.

We must be able to fund the mission. Please let your love for the gospel and your church, and city, be evidenced by your willingness to give generously, sacrificially, regularly, and proportionally.

Let's go, gang!  #WhyNotTallahassee?
