City Church
March 21st, 2013 | volume 6 | issue 12
Jesus Christ has risen, gone to heaven, and will come again. We now live in the new normal of this reality that Jesus is Lord.  This is our mission, message and new way of viewing life, and we have been given an assignment and a responsibility until He returns!

This Sunday Pastor Dean is back with Week 4 of our "The New Normal" series. If you missed the first three weeks, be sure to check them out on our website citychurchtallahassee.com.

City Speak

by Alexis Carswell

I remember the conversation like it was yesterday. I was a week into taking the position as Kids Director and I was talking to Matthew Robinson when he pulled out his phone and started punching numbers into his calculator app. He turned his phone to show me a number, a very large number and he said: "that's the number that we should expect in City Church Kids, I pulled some metrics from different areas of the church and this is the number we should prepare for." First of all, I had no idea how we were to going make Easter at the Civic Center for Kids work, I was only a week into my job!  I couldn't process that much- the logistics, safety and fun, irresistible environment we wanted to create. I couldn't do it by myself.  I wasn't sure where to even begin,  but little did I know that this event wasn't in my small little human hands. God had control of this event from the moment he put it in Dean's mind to the moment we walked out of the door at the Civic Center with the trailer packed and heading home.

You see, God does things like that. He gives the church a crazy idea  to fulfill, so in the end He can receive all of the glory for His powerful, loving, goodness! I refuse to take any credit for how God worked last year, I mean think about it- on ONE Sunday morning in Tallahassee, FL almost 4,000 people showed up for church and brought 170 children! Whoa! Not only that, He has given us the incredible opportunity to do it all over again this year! How incredibly blessed are we, City Church? We get to hold our Easter service at the Civic Center! Thousands of people will gather in one very large room to hear the Gospel, not just hear, but hopefully understand it and be changed forever. Why? Because our God is so good, so powerful, so loving that he has placed people like YOU at City Church to invite your friends and by friends I mean ALL 15 of them!  He's brought you to City Church so you can be one of those incredible people who make Easter Sunday happen and serve in one of the areas that morning, whether that be in charge of a camera on production, being so loving and welcoming to a first time visitor, directing someone where to park or loving on precious children, teaching them the Gospel in a way that they can understand.

I leave you with this challenge- let the Gospel interfere with your life and let's be good stewards of this amazing opportunity that God has given us! Invite your friends and serve in one of the many areas of City Church so that God can work trough you to change lives.
