Dear Neighbor,
The Holidays are a time at year's end that brings families and friends together to celebrate. For many of us, it is a time to re-connect with loved ones, a time to reflect on our blessings and come together.
Just as we come together as families, we need to come together as a community to count our blessings and work on building strong neighborhoods. Choosing strong leaders who are willing to work with residents on their priorities has a tremendous impact on our neighborhoods. Public safety is my top priority as I know it is for our residents.

On November 14th, the City moved its entire website (www.sanjoseca.gov) onto a new web content management system that will better meet the needs of the public and the City. The new website is more functional and efficient, offers visitors more ways to connect with City Hall, and is easier to maintain given the City's limited resources.
You can continue to access the Councilmember Rose Herrera's website via www.sanjoseca.gov/district8.
Explore the new website, update any bookmarks or links pointing to individual webpages or documents on the old site, and let us know if you have any suggestions or comments via email to webmaster.manager@sanjoseca.gov or at www.sanjoseca.gov/communityvoice.

Barnes & Noble Customers Give the Gift of Reading to Children in Need Through Annual Holiday Book Drive
Now - January 1, 2013
Barnes & Noble stores across the country invite customers to give the gift of reading to children in need during its annual Holiday Book Drive, taking now through January 1, 2013. The Barnes & Noble Holiday Book Drive provides an opportunity for customers to donate books through locally designated non-profit organizations.
Holiday Book Drive recipients throughout the country include schools, libraries, literacy organizations, family social service agencies, and homeless centers. This year, the Eastridge Barnes & Noble will be collecting books for Bachrodt Elementary (San Jose Unified School District), Cedar Grove Elementary, (Evergreen Elementary School District) and Lyndale Elementary (Alum Rock Union Elementary School District). City National Bank will match the number of books the store collects as part of the Holiday Book Drive. So if the store collects 1,500 books, City National Bank will finance the purchase of 1,500 more!
To participate, customers go to any of the Holiday Book Drive displays at the Eastridge Barnes & Noble. They pick a bookmark and purchase a brand new book for the person on that tag. Booksellers will make sure the books are delivered to the chosen schools.
If you or your business would like to contribute to the Holiday Book Drive or if you would like additional information on how you can participate, contact the Eastridge Barnes & Noble Community Business Development Manager, Michael Koller at (408) 270-9477 or crm2247@bn.com.
