Community Cultural Plan
In February the City Council approved the 2014 update of the Community Cultural Plan. Created by and for the community, the plan provides an overall direction, with measurable goals and strategies, to guide the City and community in development for arts and culture over the next six years. First created 20 years ago, this fourth update of the CCP demonstrates that organizations and individuals in Edmonds have taken their responsibility seriously, ensuring that the City has continued to develop as an arts community. The main goals of the plan are summarized below. Save the date: Poem in Your Pocket Day 2014 will be held on Thursday, April 24. On Poem in Your Pocket Day, people throughout the United States select a poem, carry it with them, and share it with others throughout the day. You can also share your poem selection on Twitter by using the hashtag #pocketpoem.
Poems for OSO - Governor Jay Inslee's 2014 Poetry Month proclamation asked that this year's National Poetry Month be observed in a more meaningful, personal way. "At a time when so many of our neighbors are recovering from great loss, it seems appropriate that we use this poetry month observance as a way to send our collective support and thoughts to the grieving survivors and affected communities," Inslee said.
