Greetings!  Chamomile

Here in Central Oregon, we're enjoying a long, warm summer. Our gardens are in full bloom, the rivers are cool and refreshing and as usual, we've been inventing some new formulas for you!

Over the last few months, we've been working with Anne Marie, an expert in vichy body treatments at Sage Springs Spa to develop our new Honey Avocado Hydrating Repair mask. They have been testing a few different formulas in their sumptuous vichy room this summer and it's finally ready, just in time to save your skin after a long summer of water, wind and sun!

I had the unfortunate opportunity to really put this mask to the test a few weeks ago after a particularly scorching hike and ski up (and down) Mount Adams in Washington. It isn't very ladylike, but when I'm on the snow, high on a mountain, my nose always runs. I wish my hanky was infused with sunscreen because my delicate Scots-Irish skin isn't meant to be in the sun at all. In spite of wearing a huge sun hat under my helmet and applying sunscreen a few times each day, the snow bounced those UV rays up on my bare nose and lips and I ended up with the worst sunburn I'd had in years. It blistered even before I could get off the mountain!

Sunburn Smoothie and some Skin Doctor helped, but it was still pretty raw and peeling when I got home. I saw some samples of the new Honey Avocado mask on my counter and thought it might help, so I slathered it on generously and let it soak in for a good hour, then gently patted my face with a moist towel. The next day, I could hardly tell I'd been burned! My skin was a little pink. Hooray for honey and herbs! I've been using this mask twice a week and my skin is smooth and glowing again. I think you'll love it too!

Hyaluronic Acid
Ingredient Spotlight: Hyaluronic Acid

Botanical Name: Sodium Hyaluronate

Skin Benefits:

Hydrating and Plumping:
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is nature's most powerful humectant. It is something we all make naturally and it can be found in our skin, eyes and cartilage. It serves as a water reservoir between the cells, holding up to 1,000 times its weight in water. As we age, we make less and less HA and our skin begins to look dehydrated, no matter how much water we drink. Feeding our skin new HA raises our moisture level, smoothing out lines and wrinkles.

Parsley Mint Foot Mask
This quick, easy foot mask is the perfect way to soothe, cool and soften tired feet!

Besides being deeply moisturizing, honey has many additional benefits. Natural enzymes in raw, unpasteurized honey soften skin, while the natural anti- bacterial and anti-fungal properties keep unwanted things at bay.

Ingredients:
1 cup raw honey
1 cup chopped fresh mint
1 cup chopped fresh parsley
10 drops peppermint essential oil

Directions: Chop parsley and mint. Warm honey in a pan over very low heat (a double boiler works best). Stir in parsley and mint. Apply to clean skin, kick back and relax (preferably while drinking some delicious herbal sun tea) for 10-20 minutes. Rinse well and moisturize.
