FROM THE DESK OF THE
EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATOR

Let me tell you a short story about a church who had been without a senior pastor for a little over a year. When their pastor had gone, a search team was formed to find a new pastor. In the meantime, however, the pulpit still needed to be filled every week with strong and solid preaching. So, a pulpit supply list was drafted with different pastors and teachers from local churches and local ministries coming by to preach and feed the flock of the church.

As time went on, the church became ready and eager to welcome a new pastor. They knew that God was working and would bless their church, but when? From the many men who came to the podium to preach, a strong candidate arose that the church thought would make an excellent pastor.

This pastor agreed with the church's sentiments and embraced the call when it was extended to him by the church, answering the many prayers of the members of the church.

I'm sure by now you've concluded that I've been talking about Calvary Church. You'd be right in that, but if you thought I was talking about recent events, you're wrong. This was 1983.

That's right. Thirty years ago, Calvary Church met their last senior pastor in Pastor Howard Hoekstra through the pulpit supply and voted to extend a call to him. He began his service to Calvary in April of 1984. History was made thirty years ago by the members of Calvary who chose to follow God.

And now, thirty years later, almost to the date, we have an opportunity again to be a part of history, to touch a pillar of history that people will look back on in the future, just like we did for our recent 125th anniversary celebration. Do you see how God works in marvelous ways? All things are certainly ordained in His timing!

I just wanted to remind you to be a part of history tomorrow,
Sunday, November 10, 2013.

You'll get a chance to see our lead pastor candidate,
Rev. Ron Citlau, preach at all three services for his fifth time up on Calvary's pulpit. You'll get a chance to vote on history at the Special Congregational Meeting called on this same Sunday, November 10 at 5 p.m. The vote will be to affirm your Consistory's call to Rev. Ron Citlau. Your Consistory believe that God is leading the way and we are trusting HIM as we continue to follow our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Want to hear something even more marvelous? Once the call is accepted by Rev. Ron Citlau, his ministry at Calvary Church will begin in January of 2014, nearly thirty years to the date that Pastor Howard started his ministry at Calvary!

To God be the Glory, for His timing is always perfect! See you Sunday!
