For the Week of August 1-8
Vol. 9, Issue 27
Family Fun Day Volunteers Needed!

If you were at church this past Sunday, then you heard the exciting news that we are doing another Family Fun Day this month. The one that we did two years ago was so successful that we decided that we would like to "throw another party" for the community that we all live in on Saturday, August 17. We want Orland Park to know that we love them and that we are here for anybody who needs help with salvation, hurt, needs, questions, answers, anything that they need. We want them to know about Jesus and the reality and truth of the Gospel story. We want to be a church that helps and heals with God's aid.

We want to bless families with a fun day (hence the name!) but we also want to reach out to our community with a family event that is fun and safe. In order for this great event to run smoothly, we need a lot of extra helping hands. One of the reasons that we were so successful last time is because of YOU! Well, we need YOU again!

We are looking for individuals or families to sign up for a two-hour shift to help run a variety of things, like selling food tickets, running carnival games, passing out prizes, helping the parking team, et cetera! Get your family involved! Even younger kids (3rd grade and up) could manage their own carnival game! There are 30 games that need volunteers for each shift.

Come and enjoy the event, then serve a shift OR start with a shift and then enjoy the festivities! A small portion of your time spent helping will help us immensely.

Won't you be a blessing and serve? (This could qualify as one of your blessings that week for our 10,000 blessings campaign!) To make it easy for anyone who wants to serve, I created an online form. Go HERE to sign up online. (Please fill out a form for each family member who wants to help.) For families, we can easily arrange the set-up so that you are near each other during your shift.

Have any questions? Contact either Tiffany Johnston, our KidsLife Director, at children@calvaryop.org or me at matta@calvaryop.org

Hope to see you all there!

- Matt

Taste of Orland Help Needed!
Can you give us a hand?

This weekend is the Taste Of Orland Park. Thousands of people will be going to the event, and we have an unbelievable opportunity to give each one of them a copy of Recovery Times and an invitation to our August 17th Family Fun Day and the Dumpstar / Maron / New Hope Band concert. We are going to have a game for children and one for teens. We will have prizes for all. Our hope is that everyone will have a good time and take our literature with them and then come to Calvary.

We can use your help to run the games and hand out literature and prizes. Why not sign up for a shift?

The shifts are:

Shift 1, set-up - Friday - 12-4p

Shift 2 - Friday 5:00-8:30p

Shift 3 - Saturday - 11a-4p

Shift 4 - Saturday - 4:00-8:30p

Sunday - 1-7p

This is a real opportunity to reach out to the community with the message of God's love and hope for recovery. It is also a great opportunity to get people to come to our Family Fun Day on August 17th.

Please pray about your participation this weekend. If you can help, please e-mail Pastor Ron at ron@calvaryop.org and let him know what shift you can help with.

Agape Cafe CLOSED This Sunday
Please make a note of this...

Due to a lack of volunteers to take shifts manning the Agape Cafe this weekend for a variety of reasons, the Cafe will be CLOSED THIS Sunday.

Have you thought about how cool it would be to learn how to run the cafe and learn how to make specialty drinks? The Cafe is ALWAYS looking to add to its volunteer staff. If you're interested, please contact Pam Bibeau at pbeebs68@sbcglobal.net

Help Us Stock Our Food Pantry!

We ALWAYS have a need to keep our Food Pantry well-stocked. There is a bin in the foyer by the north doors where we accept donations. People are welcome to drop off donated food and items at any time.

Calvary Cares

Calvary Cares' ministry goal is to assist people in various needs. Often these people include the elderly, widow, single mothers, people recovering from illness and families that are financially on hard times. While the elders and deacons try to address these needs, they often need assistance, both professionally and physically. We also know that many people of Calvary would love to assist, but are not aware of the needs.

If you would like to become involved with the Calvary Cares ministry, please contact either Keith Baar or Randy Kosar.
