FROM THE DESK OF THE EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATOR
Good afternoon. It certainly feels like Fall outside, doesn't it? Despite what the weather feels like outside, it's certainly still summer! August is around the corner and I have two pieces of news to share with you. The first begins with a question I have a question for you: How can we do an outreach event AND bless our neighbors at the same time? Let me give you a hint: Family Fun Day.
That's right. We are excited to announce that we will be hosting another Family Fun Day on Saturday, August 17! It was so popular a couple of years ago. It was a very successful event filled with a ton of fun for the families that came. We are looking forward to another event that is filled with carnival games, food, a mini-spa, raffles, a reptile show, and a lot of fun with a couple of magic shows thrown in for good measure! We are busy putting together the final details of the day, but there is one ingredient that we are missing and that is YOU!
We need YOUR HELP to make this a successful event. If you visit www.calvaryop.org/ffd you will find more information about the schedule of the day as well as a form that you can fill out to volunteer to help out during the day. Please consider signing up for a shift or two with your family. If everyone covers a shift, there will be enough time for everyone to enjoy the day and check out everything that we have planned!
This is your opportunity to be part of an outreach event this summer. Everybody can be a part of this. We can bless our community with a great, free and fun day for their families. We can show our community that we are a church that loves Orland Park and want to help and heal the hurting. This Family Fun Day will be one of Calvary Church's contribution to our 10,000 Blessings campaign.
I thank you in advance for helping us out this August 17th. If you have any questions, please see Tiffany Johnston (children@calvaryop.org) or Matt Aggen (matta@calvaryop.org).
The second piece of news is for all of you parents of children and youth aged 5 through 8th grade. Effective RIGHT NOW, both of our Sunday school programs will be on hiatus for the month of August. The Sunday school program in The Loft (5 years to 5th grade) and Jr. High CrossTraining (6th to 8th grade) will be taking the month off and will resume on Sunday, September 8 when we will have our annual Fall Kick-Off. This is a perfect opportunity to worship together as a family! This hiatus won't affect our nursery program in Tiny Town (for infants through 4 years old) as it will continue as normal, still being offered at all three morning services. If you have any questions about this, please see our KidsLife Director Tiffany Johnston (see email above) or Dave Grigoletti, our youth pastor, at daveg@calvaryop.org.
Grace and peace,
Richard L. Schuler
