For the Week of April 18-25
Vol. 9, Issue 14
Brian "Head" Welch This Weekend!
The news mill has been running fast and furious lately about this weekend. If you haven't heard already, we are excited to be hosting Brian "Head" Welch, one of the former members of the seminal heavy metal band Korn. He quit in 2005 after giving his life to Christ. Ever since, he has traveled extensively giving his testimonial and helping convert others.

Brian will be coming to Calvary Church on Saturday, April 20 at 5 & 7 p.m. and on Sunday, April 21 during the 9:30 and 11 o'clock morning services. He will be sharing how he overcame an everyday meth habit and a life of self-destruction when he became saved after his daughter was born.

All four speaking times are free and are open to anyone who wants to attend. There are no tickets needed. There will also be free childcare for all four times for all parents who are interested in attending!

If you're interested in learning more, I'm providing some links below:
- our website (with a link to his testimonial)
- our Facebook page (it has a video about his story)
- Donna Vickroy's Southtown Star interview with Brian about his visit here

We will also have all three of his books available for purchase after each service. I would urge you to consider who you can invite Saturday or Sunday. This may be a perfect opportunity for a "soft" invitation to someone who hasn't yet accepted Christ and is not a fan of "churchy church."

Any questions, give me a holler! See you this weekend.

NEW Girlfriends Morning Bible Study!
Join us for a new Bible study!

Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed: A Study of David features Beth Moore, Priscilla Shirer, and Kay Arthur. These three women explore their lives and the life of David in this six-session Bible study. The messages presented by these beloved authors are divided into three segments, two lessons from each author. Each segment focuses on the life of David at a different stage of his life: as a young man (sessions one and two by Priscilla Shirer), as a middle-aged man (sessions three and four by Beth Moore), and as a man facing the final third of his life (sessions five and six by Kay Arthur). You'll laugh with them, cry with them, and learn to love God with them.

Ministry Serving Opportunities

Is God laying on your heart to get plugged in at Calvary and serve in a ministry? Why not check out the variety of opportunities in our KidsLife programs? Most of the programs are wrapping up the school year, but Fall is already in our sights with preparation! The Cadet program, for 2nd-8th grade boys, is a great ministry for men of all ages to get involved. Or the GEMS ministry is a great place for women to serve. They both only meet two Wednesday evenings a month during the school year! Come and see the heart of these ministries before the end of this ministry season (May) and see how God can work in your life through these programs! Our infants through 5-year-olds are also looking for playmates in the Fall to snuggle and read Bible stories to them on Wednesday mornings during Coffee Break or 2 Fridays a month during MOPS. You will be blessed!

Our Mothers of Preschoolers and More group, are looking for moms of all ages to plan and implement activities for our moms twice a month. It is a great place to bond and share child rearing concerns!

If these ministries are in your field of gifts God has given you, please contact Tiffany Johnston at children@calvaryop.org or give her a call at the church office.
