10,000 Ways to Bless Your Neighbor

 This past Sunday, Calvary Church unveiled a new challenge to the church. If you were there, you know that the new campaign is called 10,000 Ways to Bless Your Neighbor, an initiative to honor the words that Jesus said in Matthew 10:8, "Freely you have received; freely give." We're challenging everyone to be a blessing to someone in some way, both small and large, for the next few months! We have business cards available in the lobby for those who would like to leave cards behind to help explain to blessed people what we are doing. We also encourage you to share your story of blessing. This is not meant as a boast, but rather an encouragement for others to consider blessing someone today! You see, God has chosen, in His infinite wisdom, to use us to bless the world. When we bless someone by doing / saying something, God is blessing them as well! It is our hope that once people see some of these stories of blessings being shared, they will realize that God is, indeed, still working in the world even today! There's a lot of ways to share your blessing story! You can... - Visit our website and fill out a form. - Post on our Facebook Wall. - Tweet your blessing by using the hashtag #TenThousandBlessings. Be sure to tag us as well by using @calvaryop! - Email us. - Fill out the connection card on Sunday. Just to get you started here are a few we've received... - Shoveled snow and took in their garbage- Helped a child find his lost snowpants- [Husband] gave money to two guys that were in need. That money gave them dinner for the next two days.- I will never forget how, when I was 10 years old and was eighteen cents short in line at White Castle, someone behind me in line gave me a quarter. I've been trying to pay it forward ever since!- I have staff at my school that seek me out to pray for their needs. As a principal, it touches my heart to know they feel safe to come. I am actively praying for three teachers now.- Contributed a bagful of new children items for my school's Caster's programs - clothing, games, handiwipes, etc.

 Authors and conference speakers Kendra and John Smiley will be coming to Parents' Night Out on Friday, March 22 at 5:30-9:30 p.m.! Reservations are now being accepted THROUGH MONDAY, MARCH 18! Kendra and John host "Parenting Like a Pro" radio program and have a regular monthly column called "Family Matters" in Prairie Farmer magazine.

4th Sunday Family Worship This March!

Get ready to worship as a family...together!
 On Sunday, March 24, both the children and youth will be involved in 9:30 and 11:00 worship services. Tiny Town will still be open for ages 0-4.
The elementary children (and younger ones can join) will each receive a palm branch to process down the aisles at the beginning of the service. PLEASE ARRIVE 20 MINUTES PRIOR TO EACH SERVICE TIME. The children can also greet at the doors and pass out bulletins before the service. We will then gather them to enter the worship center together as they wave their palms. The children will also join the Youth Band in singing a worship song that we have been practicing in The LOFT.
This will be a GREAT family celebration of Palm Sunday and the Holy Week!
Also, please mark your calendars for the following "Family Worship" Sundays:
- June 30th, VBS Sunday at the 9:30 and 11:00 services
- September 29th at the 9:30 and 11:00 services
- December 29th at the 9:30 and 11:00 services

KidsLife Easter Celebration is Back!

Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 30 at 10:00-11:30 a.m. for an Easter Celebration at Calvary. Families, join us for an Easter craft, an egg hunt inside the church, and refreshments afterwards! This is open to the community!
DONATIONS STILL NEEDED: Last year we stuffed over 800 eggs! We are STILL in need of LOTS of small wrapped candy and small trinkets that will fit inside a plastic egg. Summer Church Camp for 2nd-12th Grade

It's time to start thinking summer and how your child's life could be impacted!
Camp Manitoqua, a local Christian camp we work with, has just begun summer registration. They have many wonderful camp opportunities for your child, whether it's just a one or two overnighter for the young ones, or a full week for 3rd grade and up. We are very excited to have designated "church weeks" this year where hopefully many of our children can attend camp together. To support the high value we place on church camp in a child's life, Calvary offers financial assistance.
Stop by the Camp Table upstairs near The LOFT and Youth area to pick up a Manitoqua packet and a detailed registration letter from the KidsLife and Youth Directors.

We have two presentations coming to Calvary to help spread the awareness of this crippling disease
THURSDAY, APRIL 4 AT 6:30 P.M.
Know the 10 Signs: Early Detection Matters
This program focuses on the 10 warning signs of serious memory loss. It includes a basic overview of Alzheimer's disease and covers risk factors, diagnosis, and the benefits of early detection. Through the use of video footage, you will meet people living with memory loss as they address the fears and myths associated with dementia, and hear from the family members who are on the journey with them. THURSDAY, APRIL 18 AT 6:30 P.M.
Learning to Connect: Relating to the Person with Alzheimer's
As Alzheimer's disease and other, related dementias progress, friends and family members may find it difficult to spend time visiting with the person with dementia. This program will provide insight into dementia and its effect on communication and behavior, and will introduce participants to techniques that can be used to make visits more comfortable and meaningful for all concerned. Our next event will be a Ladies Day Out on Saturday, April 6 at 9 a.m. at Centennial Chapel, Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, IL. It will feature Gloria Gaither, award-winning author, songwriter and national speaker with music provided by Allison Speer, vocalist from the Gaither video series, along with Jasper Taylor and Proclamation Gospel Choir. Join us for a new Bible study!
 Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed: A Study of David features Beth Moore, Priscilla Shirer , and Kay Arthur . These three women explore their lives and the life of David in this six-session Bible study. The messages presented by these beloved authors are divided into three segments, two lessons from each author. Each segment focuses on the life of David at a different stage of his life: as a young man (sessions one and two by Priscilla Shirer), as a middle-aged man (sessions three and four by Beth Moore), and as a man facing the final third of his life (sessions five and six by Kay Arthur). Brian "Head" Welch is Coming to Calvary

A special guest speaker is coming to Calvary
 Many teenagers who grew up in the late '90s know the seminal heavy metal band Korn. One of its members, Brian "Head" Welch, who quit in 2005, will be coming to Calvary Church on Saturday, April 20 at 5 & 7 p.m. and on Sunday, April 21 during the 9:30 and 11 o'clock morning services. Brian will be sharing how he overcame an everyday meth habit and a life of self-destruction when he became saved after his daughter was born. Are you new to the Bible? Would you like to start?
Yes, the date is set for June 24-28 for morning VBS from 9 a.m. to 12 noon for ages 4 thru 6th grade! The VBS Directors Team has approached many individuals to seek their interest in serving as a station leader or head coordinator. If you have interest in serving prior to the VBS week we have several options such as: prep work, decorating team, or even being on the Orland Day Parade Planning Team! The volunteer form for the week of VBS will be coming out in mid-April.

Bowling for Bucks & Silent Auction
The 5th Annual "Bowling for Bucks & Silent Auction" will take place on Saturday, May 11 at the Orland Bowl (8601 West 159th Street, Orland Park). Doors will open at 6:15 p.m., with bowling to begin promptly at 7pm. Cost will be $40 per person, $75 per couple or $225 if you would like to fill the whole lane. Cost includes 3 games of bowling and shoes, pizza, salad and pop. This event is sponsored by the CCHS Athletic Boosters. Proceeds benefit the athletic programs at all 3 of our SCCS campuses! Lord's Prayer Labyrinth
"Open your eyes... open your ears... open your heart... encounter God."
Come to Grace Community Church in Oak Lawn to our Lord's Prayer Labyrinth! You will 'journey' through the labyrinth over the span of about an hour, guided by written meditations. Prayer stations on the journey lead you through the petitions of the Lord's Prayer.
Come at any time during the hours of 11:00 am - 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 16. It is best to plan a minimum of an hour to walk through the labyrinth. We will close the labyrinth at 3:00 pm. Quiet prayer rooms and soft music in the sanctuary will also be available for you. Invite your family, friends and neighbors to come for this experience.

Steve Green in Concert at Trinity Christian College
Popular Christian artist Steve Green is coming to Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, IL on Friday, April 19 at 7 p.m.! Tickets are $15 if purchased early, otherwise it is $20 at the door. Come and hear Eric Hanson, International Missions Pastor, Church Missions Consultant and Short-Term Missions Expert and Trainer, present a clear vision on how that can be done! Come and see how this can be done realistically in our church and a vision of fulfilling those goals.
