"Being on" or "Going on" Vacation

While driving across country I decided to relax and start my vacation as soon as I got in the car, rather than in most cases, when I arrived at my destination. You know how it is. You rush around getting ready, get in the car, the plane, or the train focusing on the single object of your intentions; getting to your vacation destination. But have you ever considered the difference between "being on" vacation, and "going on" vacation?

The idea of "going on" vacation fails to recognize that vacation starts the moment you decide to stop and break from your normal routine. You don't have to wait until you arrive at your destination to begin enjoying the relaxation and abandonment of your daily rituals and routines. You could start it right now; even as you stuff the last suitcase into the car.

Once you decide to "being on" vacation you may begin to feel less hurried and more present in what you are doing. When your vacation starts with the packing of your car, you give yourself the opportunity to be more relaxed, less stressed, and enjoying the "being on" vacation before arriving at your destination.  By deciding to fully live where you are at the moment, each moment become richer and more fully lived.  Get more out of your life by living each moment more fully.

Be well!

John
