The AM-TEC initiative provides a broad range of targeted economic development assistance to small, medium, and large manufacturers and suppliers of thermal and environmental control (TEC) equipment throughout the twelve-county region of Central New York. The project is designed to help firms reduce costs and increase revenue through the creation and maintenance of a capable workforce and the development of new products.
The goal of AMJIAC projects nationwide is to spur job creation through initiatives that connect small suppliers with large companies, link research with start-ups that can commercialize new ideas, and train workers with skills that firms need to capitalize on business opportunities. This newsletter will regularly feature two TEC firms. The AM-TEC regional cluster is a consortium of partners whose mission is to accelerate the growth of this advanced manufacturing industry sector in Central New York. Cluster firms are able to leverage their collective competencies to maximize the ability to find, compete for and capture funding and new business. AM-TEC cluster growth will be measured by increases in (a) member organizations, (b) jobs created and retained, (c) training provided, (d) export activity, (e) new investments, (f) revenues from new products/services.

CenterState CEO Launches 11th Funding Round of Grants for Growth Program

CenterState CEO has launched the 11th round of funding for Grants for Growth, its unique seed program to support innovative applied research projects between universities and industry to improve business competitiveness, create jobs, and accelerate products to market. The Grants for Growth program has two categories based on growth stage: $25,000 Proof of Concept grants for early-stage companies, and $150,000 Concept to Marketplace investments for later-stage companies.

TEC Tuesdays feature firms in the Thermal Environmental Controls (TEC) industry cluster in the 12 countries of Central New York. Held on the 1st Tuesday of each month from 3:30pm-5:00pm, TEC Tuesdays offer presentations, factory tours and networking opportunities for cluster firms. Individuals from the AM-TEC cluster manufacturers and suppliers are welcome to attend.

SUNY-ESF and MACNY are now offering training to AM-TEC cluster companies and the general public, supported by funding from the Department of Labor as part of the Advanced Manufacturing of Thermal and Environmental Controls (AM-TEC) Jobs and Innovation Accelerator Challenge grant. Foundational Competencies Training - FREE
Foundational Competencies, i.e. "soft skills" training, is available at no cost (including all course materials and DiSC profile). This two day program is free and will be offered to the public twice a year.
