NuClimate: An Example of What New York State's Centers of Excellence Can Produce
Governor Cuomo has stressed the importance of partnerships between universities and private industry in our constantly growing innovation economy. The Empire State Development's Centers of Excellence program is a state funded partnership with the intent to leverage research strengths of universities to help all companies grow and create jobs. SyracuseCoE is one of these success stories.
Realizing they had an idea for a new energy-efficient commercial heating, ventilation and air conditioning system for school and businesses, NuClimate sought the expertise of the SyracuseCoE. SyracuseCoE assisted NuClimate through the stages of product development and commercialization, such as simulation and modeling, all the way through penetrating the market.

SyracuseCoE Hosts Advanced Building Track at Advanced Energy Conference in NYC
SyracuseCoE is pleased to offer an exciting line-up of nationally and internationally recognized speakers at its Advanced Building track on "The Retrofit Revolution" as part of the Advanced Energy Conference in NYC, rescheduled for April 30th and May 1st. Advanced Energy, New York State's largest advanced energy event, is expected to attract thousands of participants from industry, government and academia, along with innovators and leaders from every area of energy research. An exciting line-up of invited speakers will be in attendance.

Ninth Annual Symposium on Energy in the 21st Century

The Ninth Annual Symposium on Energy in the 21st Century will feature Katherine Hammack, the primary advisor to the Secretary of the Army and Chief of Staff of the Army on all army matters related to installation policy, oversight, and coordination of energy security and management. She is also responsible for policy and oversight of sustainability and environmental initiatives and has done extensive work on Net Zero Energy.

SyracuseCoE CSCS Announces Environmental Education Minigrant Program
Environmental Education Minigrant Program: Mitigating Pollution Through Green Infrastructure and Sustainable Materials Management
In order to implement pollution prevention initiatives throughout K-12 schools in EPA Region 2 and also connect the "lessons learned" to more positively impact communities, SyracuseCoE CSCS will award a total of 30 sub-grants to fund community projects, based at local school districts. These projects will either implement green infrastructure technologies or create sustainable materials management programs.
Deadline: April 30,2013 at 5:00pm
Amount: Maximum per grant award $5,000

Diane Brandli wins the NYS Green Building Advocate of the Year Award
Diane Brandli was honored as Green Building Advocate of the Year during the 2013 New York State Green Building Conference held in Syracuse.
The award is presented by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) New York Upstate Chapter to an individual actively involved in green building and its supporting disciplines, either in a professional or volunteer capacity, and prominent in promoting the need to reduce the overall impact of the built environment on humans and the natural environment.
Brandli is a New York state-certified interior designer and a Leadership in Environmental Energy and Design-accredited professional with over 30 years of experience, including four LEED-certified projects. As the owner of dbdesign, a New York state-certified Women's Business Enterprise, she consults on commercial projects both as a sustainability and interior design consultant.
