Urban Land magazine on LEED - ND features Syracuse SALT District
Directly west of Syracuse's central business district, the SALT District qualified for LEED-ND designation in part because of stakeholders' commitments to walkable streets, compact development, and mixed-use buildings. It also includes a school, Blodgett Elementary, and a city park, Skiddy Park.
The pace of redevelopment here has been painfully slow since the start of the recession. But sponsors can point to nonprofit NWI's $4 million adaptive use of the century-old Lincoln Supply warehouse along Otisco Street as a meaningful neighborhood improvement demonstrating numerous sustainable features and practices-and providing attractive new housing alternatives.

Apply now to CenterState CEO's Largest Business Competition, Startup Labs
Syracuse is the first U.S. city to host Startup Labs' intense 22-day program. Only five other cities have hosted the program worldwide. With $350,000 in cash and prizes awarded to five teams and a focus on mentorships, this new competition will help accelerate entrepreneurs' ideas to the marketplace.
The Startup Labs formula - from seed capital, to mentorships and technical support, to continued investments and connections - is what makes this competition widely successful. The program validates each team's business model to later stage investors. Companies who successfully complete the program also become part of a Startup Labs' network, allowing businesses to connect with other companies, investors and mentors from any of its international programs, increasing the reach of these companies in a competitive global market.
This is a great new opportunity for our region's early stage or seed stage companies. Teams are invited to apply now (deadline November 16), and I encourage you to spread the word about this exciting program to interested companies.
If you have any questions, please contact Mitchell Patterson, Managing Director of CenterState CEO's Emerging Business Portfolio, at[email protected].

The resources could include specialized researchers, process experts, prototyping advisors, technology matching specialists and other types of services.
The main portion of a Solutions Fair uses short (~15 min) one-on-one meetings between a company representative and a resource representative with a focus on a specific problem they are in need of solving. The companies then rotate through and meet multiple resources during the event.
