NARIGC Presents: 2014 NARIGC Luxury Home Remodeling Show!
Saturday, September 6, 2014
Drury Lane, Oak Brook
We are very excited to announce that NARIGC will be presenting the 2014 NARIGC Luxury Home Show consumer expo and education program on Saturday, September 6 from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Drury Lane.
Lou Manfredini will do a live remote of his "Mr. Fix It" radio show from 7:00-10:00 a.m. That will be followed by NARIGC's consumer education presentations on Selecting a Contractor, Remodeling Project Contracts, Financing Options, Project Scheduling, and Homeowner Responsibilities. Lou will also present twice more during that time.
The event is sponsored by Marvin Windows and is being coordinated by FORT Productions, a national marketing firm. Our goal with this program is to inform the consumer of how projects progress from start to finish, as well as to encourage them to hire a NARIGC contractor.
The program will be promoted on WGN Radio, HouseSmarts (Lou's TV show), as well as other traditional and social media outlets. Our goal is to make this an annual event.
If you would be interested in distributing an announcement of this event to your contact list, the NARIGC office is happy to send a template email for the event to you. We are also looking for NARIGC member volunteers to attend and serve as greeters and additional resources for consumers. Please contact mimi@narichicago.org if you are interested in the template email or participating in the event.
Sponsorship packages are available as well. If you are interested, please contact:

NARIGC to Launch New Website in Fall of 2014!
Your listing on www.narichicago.org
We're getting a new website! The design and functionality of our current website, www.narichicago.org, has been in existence for more than five years, which leads it to be "ancient" in the web world. NARIGC is making a significant investment in redesigning both the look and functionality of the website to benefit the visibility of our members!
Some of the new features in addition to the updated "look" of the site:
- Search Engine Optimization to increase the visibility of the site to consumers and prospective members on the World Wide Web
- Radius-based "Find a NARI Pro" where all members will appear in a zip code search, with priority given to Certified Members and those who subscribe to the enhanced listing feature in the results listing.
- Members who subscribe to the enhanced listing feature will receive priority in zip code searches and their own web page on which they can place not only their contact information, but in addition their company logo, a description of their company, and photos of completed projects. There will also be a contact form on the member's page where consumers can submit requests for proposals directly to the member.
- A Members Only section with valuable resources for those who are members of NARIGC.
- A chat forum in the Members Only section where members can submit questions to other members and receive quick solutions to any issues related to their business.
- A chat forum for consumers to pose questions to either contractors, suppliers or industry associates.
The new subscription program will cost $25 per month (billed automatically to a credit card) for those who sign up prior to the launch of the site/$30 per month for those who sign up afterwards. Billing will begin only when the site goes live, but those who sign up early will receive some free months (i.e., if the site goes live in September, 2014, the member will receive October-December, 2015 at no charge).
Mimi will be contacting all members regarding the program once more details and a sample of your page is available. If you are interested in committing to this program in the meantime, please contact Mimi at mimi@narichicago.org to be placed on the list for the program and you will be given priority set up. She will assist you in setting up your landing page, uploading photos & logos, entering your company description, etc.
Annual banner and button sponsorships are also available. Please contact Mimi if you are interested in those as well.

RRP Refresher Course & RRP/OSHA Paperwork Workshop
Tuesday, October 14, 2014
Location: Crawford Supply, 751 N. Rohlwing Rd., Itasca
(Please park on East Side of the building)
10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
RRP Refresher Course (10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.): Part of staying compliant with the RRP Rule is attending an RRP Refresher Course and re-registering your company with the EPA or EPA-Authorized State before your certification expires. This RRP Refresher Course will provide EPA Certified Renovators with a review of the RRP Rule requirements, covering topics such as containment, prohibited work practices, and personal protective equipment. Two important hands-on activities, testing for lead-based paint and the cleaning verification procedure, will also be reviewed. PLEASE NOTE: if you allow your certification to expire, you are no longer eligible to take the Refresher Course and will have to go through the original training course again!
RRP/OSHA Paperwork Workshop (2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.): Being prepared for an investigation from either the EPA or OSHA is largely about maintaining the correct paperwork for your company, your employees and your subcontractors. This course will cover the most common mistakes that contractors make in maintaining proper paperwork and will also highlight OSHA and EPA issues that are being targeted currently.
Please click the link below to register. You may register for both sessions at a $15 discount or you may register for one or the other.
