January Membership Meeting: Small Businesses in Illinois
Tuesday, January 14, 2014
Holiday Inn, 1000 Busse Rd., Elk Grove Village
Roundtable/Networking: 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Dinner/Program: 6:30 p.m.
'Tis the season for New Year's Resolutions, so make the resolution to attend the NARIGC January Membership Meeting on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, and improve your business!
Our after-dinner speaker will be Elliot Richardson. Elliot Richardson is the CEO of the Small Business Advocacy Council, an organization dedicated to empowering the small business community and advocating on behalf of small businesses and entrepreneurs. Elliot will assess the economic conditions for small business owners in the remodeling industry and discuss ways that NARI members can leverage the power of critical mass to impact public policy. Topics of discussion will include health insurance options for the small business community and lowering excessive fees that hurt small businesses.
Elliot will also be conducting the Roundtable at 5:30. The SBAC works hard in Springfield to benefit small businesses in Illinois. Elliot would like to update you on pending legislation that may effect your businesses as well as get input from NARIGC members on what topics effect them! During the roundtable, he will cover:
- Explore the most pressing legislative issues facing NARIGC businesses in Illinois;
- Discuss how the SBAC can work in Springfield to improve the economic environment for the remodeling industry;
- Get feedback on developing an economic development plan that will benefit all businesses and communities in Illinois.

Illinois Better Buildings:Better Business Conference December 10-11, 2013
Near Chicago O'Hare
NARI of Greater Chicagoland will be there...will you?
Wish you had a crystal ball? The Illinois Better Buildings: Better Business Conference has the next best thing.
Join us December 10-11, 2013 at the conference to meet the leaders who are thinking about the future-now. Their knowledge will help you navigate risk and gain the insight you need to boost your ability to seize opportunities.
Announcing not one, but FOUR general session presenters:
The new code is here and more change is coming, in Illinois and across the country. Have you heard of green codes, stretch codes and outcome-based codes? Isaac Elnecave of the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance will bring us news from the front lines of the codes evolution.
We know a lot about buildings, but research gurus argue there is a lot more to learn. Find out what they wish they knew. National residential building research expert Scott Pigg of the Energy Center of Wisconsin will share his wish list of what we need to know to make buildings better.
Material science evolves constantly and so do green standards for materials. Do you ever wonder what materials you'll be using five years from now? Peter Yost of Building Green, Inc. will explore what's emerging on the materials front.
Are high performance homes worth all the hype? Are they as marketable as we once thought? As a builder whose business grew-rather than shrank-during the recent recession; Mark Wahl of Cobblestone Builders will shed some light on the status and bright future of the high performance homes market.
Hope to see you there.
