Maximizing Design, Sustainability, Space in Bathroom Development

Course Description: The course covers water efficiency measures in restroom design. The program amplifies the essence of water scarcity and demonstrates how high-efficiency systems are essential - ultimately affecting total building impact. By focusing on the expanding role water conservation plays in green design, you will be able to strike a balance between sustainable needs and design flexibility. The program will discuss the expanding role architects and designers play in water efficiency designs. You will gain a better understanding of the different types of design tools available and specific green design guidelines for restroom applications. By narrowing the scope to bathroom design, the program highlights design issues by bringing attention to details in design needed in this area.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to; Understand the expanding role water conservation plays in green design, Identifying water efficiency within all aspects of design, Rediscover the power of water, Understand design tools including ASHRAE Green Guide, Alliance for Water Efficiency, USGBC LEED� 2013, EPA WaterSense�, Identify high-efficiency solutions, The significant positive impact water conservation has on society.

Universal Solutions for the Bathroom

Course Description: Participants will engage in a discussion on the rapidly growing aging population. With the growing number of adults needing or wanting to age in their homes the importance of Universal Design is more important than ever. As one ages, the use of the bath changes from a place for pampering to a place of necessity. The use of Universal Design principles and selection of the proper products will allow you to blend the user personal style while accommodating all users' needs.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to: Identify the segment of the population with Aging-in-Place needs, Understand the seven principles of Universal Design, Choose bathroom fixtures that meet the users needs, Design a bathroom with proper placement of products in critical use areas.
