SMOKE-FREE COMMUNITIES

New tools released

Earlier this year, SCTFC surveyed communities about compliance with smoke-free laws and requested revenue data comparing sales prior to and after adoption of such a law.

SCTFC has developed palm cards and infographics highlighting the responses. This information can be useful in communicating with elected officials, municipal staff and business owners about smoke-free laws.

SCTFC has a supply of palm cards and infographics available to community coalitions. Please submit requests to megan@smokefreesc.org. We will do our best to provide the quantities requested. Materials are also available for electronic download

On April 25th, the FDA Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) proposed a Deeming Regulation to regulate other tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, cigars, little cigars, dissolvable products, and hookah. The FDA is accepting public comment until July 9, 2014. View this docket.

Want to submit a comment but not sure where to start? The Tobacco Control Legal Consortium has developed several resources including a fact sheet regarding the deeming regulation and talking points. View other available resources.

Learn more about comment opportunities available through the FDA CTP.

The American Public Health Association petition asking other pharmacies to remove tobacco products from their shelves is still open. Sign the petition.
