PARTNER SPOTLIGHT
American Heart Association
Logo - AHA

The American Heart Association's (AHA) mission is to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. The link between heart disease and tobacco use makes AHA an ideal partner in the state's tobacco control efforts. AHA has assisted with smoke-free workplace efforts and was involved in the successful campaign to increase the state's cigarette tax.

February is American Heart Month, which includes AHA's Go Red for Women Campaign. Two ways to treat your heart well are quitting smoking and avoiding exposure to secondhand smoke. Smoking increases the risk of coronary heart disease. Secondhand smoke exposure is also bad for one's heart. A few minutes of exposure can lead to a heart attack. Click on the logo to learn more.

Want to get involved? Here are some upcoming events:

Consider joining the fight on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 5:30pm on the north steps of the South Carolina State House. There will be an opportunity at the event to purchase a Lights of Hope bag to be displayed for a $10 donation.  You can also purchase a Lights of Hope bag in advance online by clicking here, through your local Cancer Action Network Advocate or by contacting the local office at 843-858-2310.
