America Celebrates Manufacturing Day

Manufacturing Day 2013 declared a sweeping country-wide success!

More than 80MFG_DAY_Logo0 manufacturers across the country hosted events as part of this year's Manufacturing Day celebration held on October 4th. Some companies opened their doors and gave tours of their facilities, some visited schools, other manufacturers gave lectures or hosted webinars.

Manufacturing Day was started in an attempt to dispel misconceptions about manufacturing, promote viable workforce options, and to provide an opportunity for manufacturers across the country to come together and start a dialogue about shared challenges and resources.

"The rallying point for a growing mass movement, MFG DAY empowers manufacturers to come together to address their collective challenges so they can help their communities and future generations thrive."

Beers & Gears: CAMT's MFG Day 2013 Event

Beers & Gears was a huge hit with tours, fun, food, pool, and beer!

CAMT celebrated Manufacturing Day 2013 with a mini tour of two downtown Denver breweries followed by fun, food and pool playing at the Wykoop Brewery.

Beers & Gears kicked off with a behind the scenes sneak peek of Denver's newest craft brewery, Jagged Mountain, who was nice enough to show our group around prior to opening to the public!

Next stop was the famous Wynkoop brewery where local manufacturers were treated to a complete tour of the facilities followed by a social mixer that included food, pool...and more beer!

The event was such a success that a follow up: Beers & Gears Part Two is being planned for spring of 2014. Stay tuned!

Innovative Manufacturer: KOTA Longboards

Manufacturer of hand carved, high performance longboards

KOTA Longboards

Michael Maloney, President/CEO

Briefly describe your companies products and services

KOTA Longboards hand manufactures longboard skateboards. We engineer our longboards similar to downhill skis, which makes them high performance carving boards. Combined with sophisticated styling, KOTA Longboards are unique in the marketplace.

What makes your company unique?

The combination of high performance carving and sophisticated styling sets KOTA Longboards apart from most other longboard manufacturers. We've moved the primary art surface to the top of the deck whereas most of

the market covers the top of the longboard with grip tape.

What separates your company from the competition?

KOTA Longboards focuses on broadening the traditional demographic for longboard skateboards. We believe that longboarding is ripe for moving into the mainstream action sports market similar to paddle boards this season or rollerblades in the past. Our products are designed and styled with the mainstream market in mind.

How is your company advancing the industry?

One of the appealing aspects of the longboard market is that there is no dominant industry thought leader at this time. The construction and performance of a longboard hasn't changed fundamentally for a decade. KOTA focuses on how a rider uses a longboard and we engineer our decks and develop new product specifically to enhance the rider experience and appeal to a broader demographic.
