Join us for food, networking, and fun at our monthly Chamber breakfast.  Our sponsor for this event is PEMCO Insurance, and our event host is Antioch University. Guests will be treated to a delicious breakfast.

Our guest speaker for the breakfast will be Vicki Legmanan accomplished instructor, course designer, consultant and speaker with over two decades of public and private sector experience.

You know the saying, "It's not what you say, it's how you say it?" For 26 years, Vicki Legman has been helping business people say it right. Participants of her workshops learn to build relationships, strengthen teams, reduce conflict and increase their effectiveness. Oh, and they have a blast while learning.

Umpqua Bank Introduces Next-Generation Flagship Store in SLU

Located at 200 Westlake Avenue N., the store integrates technology and design to create a compelling and inviting space for customers and the community.

As part of the store's opening, Umpqua transformed its storefront into a Conversation Wall - an interactive installation to engage with South Lake Union's community directly on the street. Passersby can text conversation topics they care about and Umpqua will curate a series of events in response to community interest. Events will be posted at www.umpquabank.com/SLU. The Conversation Wall will be up through May 31st. Read more.
SLU Chamber Offers MyFuture 401(k) Plan

The SLU Chamber has worked with industry leaders to create and offer an exciting new membership benefit  - The MyFuture 401(k) plan.  The My Future 401(k) Plan is a Multiple Employer Plan that enables unaffiliated employers (and members) to adopt and offer a retirement plan, built on a model of aggregated shared services. By leveraging economies of scale, the My Future Plan provides adopting employers with lower costs, a lessened administrative burden and reduced fiduciary risk.

Each adopting employer retains control of the vesting, eligibility requirements, matching contributions, profit sharing, and general plan design.  It makes the 401(k) experience easier and more cost-effective for your company.

For 401(k) retirement information contact Jodie King (206) 547-2577, or Jason McKinney (206) 271-9916. Learn more.

"Tuskmania Hits South Lake Union"

You would have had to be buried under a rock (sorry, we couldn't help ourselves) to miss this story. Our friends at discoverslu.com have the scoop.

Paleontologist Bruce Crowley unearths the 20,000 year-old tusk.

Survey on Minimum Wage and Employee Compensation

The Seattle City Council and Mayor's office will be considering raising the minimum wage later this year. It is important that elected officials understand the potential impacts, so the Downtown Seattle Association would like to get your thoughts on this subject. They want to know what impact, if any, such an increase might have on your local business or organization. Please take their brief, anonymous survey here.

From the Oregonian: SLU has Lakeside Ambience

The Oregonian features South Lake Union as a place to visit. They suggest a visit to MOHAI, and offer tips on how to get around the area.
